Beth: Oh, I love Mexico! It´s really beautiful
David: Thanks. So is Brazil
Beth: Oh, good Sun Hee is here.
David: Who´s Sun Hee?
Beth: She´s my classmate. We´re in the same math class.
David: Where´s she from?
Beth: Korea. Let´s go and say hello. Sorry, what´s your last name again? Garcia?
David: Actually, it´s Garza.
Beth: How do you spell that?
David: G-A-R-Z-A
Ordinal Numbers
Forma-se os numerais ordanais , em inglês, acrescentando th aos números cardinais. excentuam-se:
1) - Os números 1,2,3, que formam os numerais ordinais irregularmente.
2) - Os números 5 e 12, que alteram o ve final para f(tal como acontece, entre os cardinais, na formação de 15 e 50) antes de receber o th
3) - O número 9, que perde o e final antes de receber o th
4) As dezenas (20,30, etc.), que mudam o y em ie, para depois lhes acrescentar o th
Vejamos os Números Ordinais 1º - First
2º - Second
3º - Third
4º - Fourth
5º - Fifth
6º - Sixth
7º - Seventh
8º - Eighth
9º - ninth
10º - tenth
11º - eleventh
12º - twelfth
13º - thirteenth
14º - fourteenth
15º - fifteenth
16 - sixteenth
17º - Seventeenth
18º - eighteenth
19º - nineteenth
20º - twentieth
Depois do Vigésimo, para o Vigésimo primeiro, segundo, etc... usa-se o numeral cardinal seguido dos ordinais necessários:
21º - Twenty - First
22º - twenty - Second
etc.
30º - thirtieth
31º - thirty - first
32º - thirty - second
etc.
40º - Fortieth
41º - forty - first
42º - forty - Second
etc.
Em nossa língua, abreviamos os ordinais com o, porém no inglês a abreviação se dá a seguinte forma:
First - 1st
Second - 2nd
third - 3rd
a partir do 4º todas as quantidades são abreviadas com 'th':
fourth - 4th
fifth - 5th
twentieth - 20th
